However, he is also a troubled young man who has been in and out of trouble with the law. The movie opens with a scene in which a group of MIT students attempt to solve a difficult mathematical problem posted on a chalkboard in the hallway. As they struggle with the problem, Will walks by and solves it effortlessly, impressing everyone in the room.
